B.J. Cleveland  is delighted to return for his 21st season. B.J. was an original cast member of Uptown Players inaugural show When Pigs Fly having starred as Howard Crabtree. (Thank you Jeff and Craig! Who knew?) He directed the acclaimed regional premiere of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and productions of: Disaster!l, A Very Judy Christmas, Sister Helen Holy's Holiday Spectacular, Forbidden Broadway, Beautiful Thing, Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Thank You for Being a Friend, Gilligan's Fire Island, and has written and directed many Broadway Our Ways. B.J. has appeared on the Uptown stage in he Nance, The Producers, It's Only A Play, A Very Judy Christmas, Pageant, Legends!, Regrets Only, Valhalla, and Love! Valour! Compassion!, and recently, he starred in the one-man 44-character play Application Pending that was filmed and streamed during Covid. Other recent appearances include: God in An Act of God (Stage West); Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar (Casa Mañana); and Alphie Byrne in A Man of No Importance (Brick Road Theatre). B.J. previously directed productions for Theatre Three, WaterTower Theatre, Contemporary Theater of Dallas, Casa Mañana, 1:30 Productions, Theatre Arlington (15 years as Artistic Director) and Dallas Children’s Theater's national tour. He has won numerous awards for acting and directing from DFW Theater Critics Forum, D Magazine, Dallas Voice, Star Telegram, TheatreJones, BroadwayWorld.com, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Live Theatre League of Tarrant County. B.J. is widely known as the #1 Kids television host of TV's Disney Afternoon.
